The Deka Services Group is growing and looking for entry-level and experienced technicians. Deka Services is part of East Penn Manufacturing, the largest single-site lead battery manufacturer in the world. Here are some of the most regular positions we currently have available:
Project Manager
Deka Services – East Penn Manufacturing headquartered in Lyons Station, PA provides, engineers, installs and integrates best of class power products supporting telecom companies, data centers, government organizations and utilities. We service customers throughout North America.
We are currently seeking to fill the position of a Project Manager/ Project Engineer.

The following experience is required:
- Project Management work associated with the addition or removal of communications power equipment (rectifiers, DC Power batteries, UPS batteries cabinets, etc.); running, lacing and terminating power and ground cable; alarm wiring and connections; mounting bays; hot-work cut overs. Replacement of Inside Plant and UPS batteries.
- Assist in the coordination and interface with customer and field representatives to monitor all installation requirements.
- Manage subcontractors and/or direct technicians on large battery replacement projects.
- Possess a high level of competency in all areas of Project Management and apply this knowledge or skill in resolving problems.
- Must have an extensive understanding of communications power procedures and be proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (Experience with Micro-soft Project is a plus, but not a requirement).
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate job activities from start to completion
- Create, read and understand job specs, MOPS, drawings, and material lists.
- Complete close out packages and preventative maintenance reports.
- Follow industry and customer standards/ scope of work relative to battery install, grounding, cabling, etc.;.
- Perform walk-throughs to gather necessary information for Deka Services – East Penn Reserve Power Sales to plan for new and awarded projects.
Additional requirements include the ability to run and direct multiple crews and activities. Experience in the construction, DC Power, telecommunications or electrical fields, data centers; good communication skills; interface with customers; and good driving record. AC Power/ UPS/ Battery Monitoring system knowledge/ experience is a plus. Some travel is required.
Battery Technician
Deka Services – East Penn Manufacturing headquartered in Lyons Station, PA provides, engineers, installs and integrates best of class power products supporting telecom companies, data centers, government organizations and utilities. We service customers throughout North America.
We are currently seeking to fill the position of Level 2, 3, and 4 DC Power/Stationary Battery systems installers. Current positions are available for projects throughout the United States.
Benefits include, bonus programs, life insurance, medical, dental and vision plan, paid holidays, and vacation after the mandatory probationary period.
The following experience is required:
- Supervise and/or perform work associated with the addition or removal of communications power equipment (rectifiers, DC batteries, UPS batteries, cabinets.); running, lacing and terminating power and ground cable; alarm wiring and connections; construction associated, infrastructure and mounting bays. Additionally we perform preventative maintenance on UPS battery systems including the battery monitoring systems.
- Assist in the coordination and interface with customer and field representatives to monitor all installation requirements.
- Possess a high level of competency in all areas of the installation field and apply this knowledge or skill in resolving problems.
- Must have an extensive understanding of communications power procedures and be proficient in use of all power tools and meters.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate job activities from start to completion and perform error free work.
- Perform “hot-cut” transition work in accordance with telecommunications practices.
- Read and understand job specs, drawings, and material lists. Complete PM reports and close out packages.
- Follow industry and customer standards relative to ampacity, grounding, cable sizing, etc.; prepare and submit Method of Procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to install all types of back-up power equipment.
Additional requirements include a minimum of 3 years experience in DC power/ battery installation in the telecommunications field; good communication skills; and good driving record. AC Power experience is a plus. Extensive Travel is required.
